7th: Wear White

When we choose which clothes we wear, and their colors, our choice is often based on our current mood, energy levels, and self-expression. For example, we might choose to wear blue clothing when we are feeling “blue” or black if we are Emo. Every color has its own spectrum of wavelengths and its own range of frequency, each resulting in its own spiritual meaning. I relate colors to their matching chakra:

  • Red - first chakra - existence, grounding, safety, stability

  • Orange - second chakra - creativity, sexuality, desire

  • Yellow - third chakra - power, self-worth, energy, pleasure

  • Green - fourth chakra - love, allow, surrender

  • Pink - emotional body of the fourth chakra - forgive, relationships, connection

  • Blue - fifth chakra - self-expression, communication, speech

  • Purple - sixth chakra - awareness, knowledge, understanding

  • White - seventh chakra - consciousness, belief, divine connection, transmits and reflects all colors of light

  • Black - not associated with a chakra - protection, absence of light, absorbs all energy

You can choose a color based on how you are feeling, or you can help raise your vibration by choosing a color that you need to work on. Maybe you have low self-worth today, so you might wear yellow to support your third chakra. Maybe you have a really important meeting and need clear communication, so you wear yellow. If your heart is broken you can wear pink to support your emotional heart chakra.

We can consciously make the choice to wear the color of the chakra or vibration that we want to encourage. White is a special color because it is not just one color but is the whole spectrum of colors in one! Think of a rainbow all mushed together, the result would be white light! When you wear light, all of the light from your energy system is reflected and amplified increasing its expansion. This might be why most beginner meditation classes and retreats require the participants to wear white, as it gives their energy a boost from the start.

As a beginner, even adding a foot in diameter to your aura can make a huge difference relatively. When you become advanced in meditation and expansion of your energy field, wearing white helps, but proportionately much less noticeable. Most Buddhist monks wear orange as a symbol of giving up their worldly desires, while Tibetan monks wear maroon which represents balance.

In summary, if one of your chakras needs a boost or you would like help supporting your habits and emotions, wear the color that associated with what you are working on. If you are a beginner with meditation and would like help connecting, wearing white can substantially help your energy system and expand your awareness. Try it out next time you meditate! Did you notice a difference?
