Meditate to quiet your mind and balance your sixth chakra

The sixth chakra is located in the middle of the head and is ofter referred to as the third eye. This is where intuition and psychic information enters into the body. It is also where our brains are… and these days our brains are on overdrive! All of the technology and speed of life, as well as the lack of grounding and community, has caused this chakra to be out of alignment! So if there were one chakra that were to benefit the most from meditating, it is this one: the sixth!

When our minds are busy thinking about what gas to put in the car or how to pay our next credit card bill, or our monkey-mind is telling us that we are not good enough, the chakra shifts towards the back of the head, rather than focusing on the pineal gland near the center of our brain. This caused our perception, and maybe even vision, to be out of focus and confusing.

Meditating, or any mindful practices, will quiet the rampant thoughts and help you stay centered (literally and figuratively). While meditating, when thoughts or distractions come up, acknowledge them and then dismiss them. These thoughts are not who you are, they are just a regurgitation of every experience from your life up to this point. It’s what you do with these thoughts that makes you you!
